It’s not the glamorous side of golf course design but in broad terms vegetation management might be the most important aspect of the job. Course architect Harley Kruse joins Ep 75 to talk about all things golf courses and environment including the difference between native and indigenous plants and why removing trees that should never have been planted is a win for the environment. There is also an update on the intriguing Kameruka project in southern NSW.

On Episode 74 we’e joined by one of the younger members of the golf press when Golf Australia magazine Deputy Editor Jimmy Emmanuel joins the pod to talk modern media and where it’s going as well as other happenings in the wold of golf.

After years of ridicule Good Good co-host Adrian Logue finally made the pilgrimage to Barnbougle Dunes in Tasmania and on Episode 73 answers the question on everybody’s lips: how did he rate the paths? There’s that plus plenty more of his unique insights into one of the world’s great golf experiences in a special two man edition of Good Good.

As always the Masters managed to produce an incredible story in winner Hideki Matsuyama whose victory will likely have impacts beyond the golf world. Two time LET winner Meg Maclaren joins the pod to break down the interesting tidbits from the week as well as delve into the role of professional golf in the game more broadly.

It’s the first major of the year and who better to talk to about the importance of the ANA Inspiration (or the Dinah Shore as many of us still call it) in the history of the LPGA than two time winner and Australian golf legend Karrie Webb. Karrie talks about the ANWA (hint: Augusta National’s women’s event doesn’t tick ALL the boxes), changing tournament names to suit sponsors, her own two wins and more. In part two Karrie sticks around for a bit as we chat to Golf Challenge NSW Open winner Bryden Macpherson about one of the most interesting journeys of one of the most interesting players in the game.

We’ve spent alot of time on the pod discussing the battles over public golf and its place in the broader community and most of that discussion has leaned towards the negative. But on this episode we’re going to meet the GM of a public facility who are showing the way on how to get it right. Robby Stephenson runs the Council Owned Links Shell Cove south of Wollongong and has some terrific advice on how public golf can weave itself into a local community.

Mike Clayton is one of our favourite guests and on Episode 68 he’s in fine form talking golf and the Olympics, caddying for Elvis Smylie, the aerial versus the ground game and plenty more as well.

With public golf in a precarious position in many parts of Australia the game needs to make its case for remaining part of communuties and on Ep 67 Dr Brad Stenner joins us to do just that. Research conducted by Brad as part of the R&A’s Golf and Health initiative indicates the game is a benefit for those who play it, especially in the over 55 age group, but says more research is needed.
