The Good-Good Golf Podcast

Hosted ByDerek Duncan, Adrian Logue & Rod Morri

Podcasting brought them together and now the Good Good Golf Podcast is the result. Hosts Derek Duncan, Adrian Logue and Rod Morri are all avid podcast producers and listeners and after admiring each other’s work from a distance for months they finally connected on an episode of the now defunct iSeekGolf Book Club. The loss of that show, however, cleared the way for the birth of Good-Good, a corner of the internet where golf nerds can shamelessly congregate to discuss everything from the nuances of a redan par-3 to whether local government has a responsibility to promote golf. Welcome to the golf podcast world’s most eclectic show!

Ep 57: Less Than Perfect Makes For Ideal Masters

The course wasn’t it’s usual pristine best but it didn’t detract from the 84th edition of the Masters at Augusta National. Carolina Golf Course Superintendent Matthew Wharton joins the pod to discuss ‘Augusta Syndrome’, golfer expectations and the golf course as a living breathing, entity.

Ep 56: Ewan Porter On Kids, Socks, The Masters and More

Former Tour player turned TV commentator and junior golf advocate Ewan Porter is on a Sydney golf odyssey tracing his roots in the game back to his childhood so it seemed the perfect opportunity to get him in studio for a chat all things golf. From his now infamous black sock incident at a leading Sydney club to his Junior Series and what to expect at The Masters it’s just a good old fashioned chat about golf.

Ep 55: Meg Maclaren plus Women, War and Sport with Dr Ali Bowes

Two time LET winner Meghan Maclaren has attracted plenty of attention for her excellent writing, so much so that she recently took part in a collaborative university study looking at her blog and its place in the game. Co-author Dr Ali Bowes joins this week’s pod (it’s actually last week’s pod but things got a bit hectic) to discuss the unique collaborative study plus a range of other fascinating media and women’s golf issues.

Ep 54: Mike Clayton and Harley Kruse

We’ve swapped one keen golf mind for two on Ep 54. With Adrian Logue off playing golf it was generous of Mike Clayton and Harley Kruse to step in and save the day. A great chat about golf and its place in society and what the game can do to help secure its own future.

Ep 53: Journos; Who Needs ’em?

In a world of social media where anyone with an internet connection can broadcast an opinion is there still a role for trained journalists? Michael McEwan, Digital Editor of UK based magazine Bunkered, says yes and joins the pod this week to discuss.

Ep 51: John Huggan, Brandel Chamblee And The Bubble

Two big events for John Huggan this week: he was on site at a golf tournament for the first time since February and he also got blocked by Brandel Chamblee on Twitter. Hard to imagine a better time to get Simon the pod even though it’s only been four weeks since his last appearance. Enjoy!

Ep 51: Jeff Mingay And The Architect’s Burden

Canadian architect Jeff Mingay joins the pod this week to discuss the role of architecture in the game beyond just creating interesting golf plus the responsibility of designers in educating the golf public about what constitutes ‘good’ golf.

Ep 50: Whinged Foot – The Fallout

Thee’s been no shortage of whining and whinging about the US Open at Winged Foot and you’ll find plenty more of it here though hopefully with a somewhat different angle. Enjoy.

Ep 49: Winged Foot and The Wall

We try not to talk a bout the same stuff as everybody else on Good Good but every now and then there is no getting around it. Hopefully we at least bring some fresh perspectives to the discussion about the wall controversy at the ANA as well as what’s ahead at the US Open.
