The Good-Good Golf Podcast

Hosted ByDerek Duncan, Adrian Logue & Rod Morri

Podcasting brought them together and now the Good Good Golf Podcast is the result. Hosts Derek Duncan, Adrian Logue and Rod Morri are all avid podcast producers and listeners and after admiring each other’s work from a distance for months they finally connected on an episode of the now defunct iSeekGolf Book Club. The loss of that show, however, cleared the way for the birth of Good-Good, a corner of the internet where golf nerds can shamelessly congregate to discuss everything from the nuances of a redan par-3 to whether local government has a responsibility to promote golf. Welcome to the golf podcast world’s most eclectic show!

Ep 102: The Mysterious Richard Pennell

Earlier this year a new talent emerged in the small corner of Golf Twitter that The Good-Good podcast inhabits in the form of the Stymied blog. Author Richard Pennell was a complete unknown to most of us but his writing has struck a chord with many so we decided to get him on the show and have him explain himself.

Ep 101: John Huggan On His week In Saudi Arabia

What’s Saudi Arabia really like? What was Phil Mickelson thinking when he told John Huggan he was offended by the PGA Tour’s ‘obnoxious greed’? What does the Phoenix Open have to do with The Simpsons and Soccer? And for a change of pace, is the Vic Open the best tournament in Australia? All on Ep 101 of the Good-Good Golf Podcast

Ep100: Mike Clayton

100 episodes is a bit of a milestone so to celebrate we invited back our favourite podcast guest, Mike Clayton. It’s a rambling chat about Greg Norman, the Saudis, golf in Asia in the 80’s, the quality of free to air TV programming, whether sport is simply entertainment or something more and any number of other Claytonesque rabbit holes. Enjoy.

Ep 099: Rick Young on Muni Golf’s Survival

Score Golf’s Rick Young joins the podcast to talk about his recent submission to the Toronto City Council regarding plans to reduce their golf offering. We also touch on the Californian bill that incentivised local government to swap municipal golf for affordable housing, the game’s brand image problem and the need for golf to be heard outside the golf world.

Ep 098: Golf From On The Ground With Jimmy Emanuel

The Australian PGA and WPGA tournaments at Royal Queensland marked the return of big tournament golf in Australia. So what did we learn and what might the future hold? Golf Australia Magazine Deputy Editor Jimmy Emanual joins the pod for a wide ranging discussion on the state of professional golf in Australia.

Ep 097: Harley Kruse and Blowers In The Rough

The final episode of 2021 demands a special guest and we’ve managed just that with one of our favourites here at Good-Good, course architect Harley Kruse.

GG Ep 096: Northcote GC – A Blueprint for the future of public golf?

The ongoing debate about the future of Northcote Golf Course in Melbourne will likely come to an end early next year when the Darebin Council makes a decision about its future. The Northcote Community and Golf Hub group have a well thought out and comprehensive proposal to share the space between golfers and the rest of the community and spokesman Bill Jennings joins the podcast to discuss their plans.

Ep 095: The Future of Public Golf

One Bearded Golfer (AKA Dave Hill) joins the pod for a review of the recent National Links Trust symposium on public golf. Dave attended digitally and reports on some of the ideas that came out of the event.

Ep 094: The Oceania Golf Players Association

It’s a funny old game, professional golf. The players are the stars of the show though they get little effective say in how their own industry is run. Reigning NSW Open and Moonah Links PGA Classic winner Bryden Macpherson is one of a handful of Australian players trying to change that with the formation of the Oceania Golf Players Association, a group of pros that would like to have more input into the workings of professional golf in Australia.
